Concrete paving of SC-477 in the Planalto Norte is 80% complete

Santa Catarina remains a large construction site thanks to the Programa Estrada Boa, the largest state highway project in its history. Work is advancing across several regions, and one of the highlights in the north of the state is the rigid concrete paving of 34.5 kilometers of SC-477, connecting Canoinhas to the BR-116 access point in Monte Castelo.
Work already reaches 80% completion
Paving of the roadway has reached 80% completion, totaling about 28 kilometers of new pavement. The structure is 22 centimeters thick and offers greater durability than traditional asphalt. In addition to SC-477, three other highways are receiving this type of paving due to the heavy flow of trucks, especially from the timber sector.
This stretch of SC-477 had not received state government investment for three decades. In February of this year, Governor Jorginho Mello authorized the start of the project, which is now progressing rapidly.
Concrete has a higher initial cost than asphalt, but its greater durability makes it economically advantageous in the long run.
Investment and pavement service life
The Secretary of Infrastructure and Mobility (SIE), Jerry Comper, emphasizes that the rigid concrete pavement, at 22 centimeters thick, has a service life of 20 to 30 years. SC-477 will also feature third lanes to improve road safety.
In total, the Government of Santa Catarina is investing R$ 105 million in this project.
Strategic logistics corridor
SC-477 plays a strategic role as a logistics corridor for Santa Catarina's Planalto Norte. The project includes restoration and expansion of road capacity, with asphalt applied in urban areas and concrete on the remaining stretches.
- Additional passing lanes at critical points
- Asphalt in urban areas and rigid concrete on the remaining stretches
- Urban improvements such as bike lanes and pedestrian walkways
